Have seen very nice polished concrete flooring but haven't lived with it I think it would be a very good option with underfloor heating.

My daughter and s-i-l put it in their new house and it has cracked badly. They were quoted $30,000 to have it fixed!

If it's concrete its very easy care and looks great but can be hard on your feet and back sometimes as there is no give in it.

Make sure you check examples of concrete contractors work - a colleague recently built and found out the hard way you can't always take contractors word for it quality-wise. You get one shot at it only - make sure they know what they are doing!

as above, get a contracter, who will give you advice as to how he will do the job, eg, densifing, grinding, polishing, eg; to a 800 grit finish, up to 3000 , and to what sealer he will use, normally you get what you pay for, but ask for references etc.

The initial placing of the concrete is as important. Bits where some over zealous novice has over vibrated and sunk the agg show up like dogsballs in polished concrete.

Our neighbours floor was supposed to be polished concrete. What they got was 1000's of little craters that had to be filled and levelled then they had to choose what flooring they wanted. Very expensive cock up.
