Greenhouse Advice Please?

victrieve, Dec 19, 7:25pm
I live in Taupo and am considering buying a greenhouse. I have seen one advertised in a rural newspaper from Safety & Tools. It is polycarbonate with aluminium framing (kitset form).
Can anyone give me their thoughts on this type. We live in Taupo and ideally would like to grow veges all year round.
Also, is it best to grow plants in raised gardens or in pots in a greenhouse!

Year round! You need longer daylight hours than you'll get in winter and possibly heating as well.
A glasshouse (or plastic house) is warmer than the outside temp, but not by a lot.
Unless you heat it.

If it is one of the Chinese ones they are a nightmare to assemble and are not very strong

we put in one from safety and tools this year. Instructions are a nightmare to follow and you must check all parts first as our kit set had pieces missing but they did replace them with no hesitation but it held up the assembly for a while. However we are having fun with it now.

Whats wrong with some fence posts x4 some 4x2 top and bottom and some clear plastic. work out about the same price, but will not blow over and will last a hell of a lot longer.

Because if it is bigger than 10 sq mtrs the local councils will find costs more in permits , wind loading , load bearing , drainage , finding boundary pegs etc and any other reason .
