Hi, I just want to know a price bracket for installing either french or sliding doors into our 1920s wooden house! At present we have a single door and beside it a large window about thigh hight from floor, and around 2 metres wide by 1.5 high. Would need to get a tradesman to do the actual inserting doors but we could do all the plastering, painting etc. Just trying to decide if worth it! Would love to have doors and a deck but not sure if should spend the money.so any info would be much appreciated! Also is the consent process complicated or easy! Cheers!

You will need to have a permit and a LBP to do the work since you will be altering a structural wall and the exterior cladding. Best get a price that includes all that stuff, just tell the guy what you want to do yourself.
is the door the same width and location as the window!Or do you need to open it wider!

if there is an existing window/door then you dont need a consent.
We had french doors installed in an existing window space. Cost about $2500 all up, including new doors
