What is the going rate to lay concrete?, about 168m2 driveway 150mm thick. I'm doing all the prep.

$290 per cu metre plus $70 delivery cost and then labour on top

Seems pretty excessive?

I have no idea the cost of wet concrete but a cubic metre spread 150mm will go quite far.

Do the sums. A total of 25m is required, ie $7k for concrete. Put a second layer of mesh in there and reduce it to 100mm, ie $4.5k. Building works costs big dollas these days.

Im just after a "layer" price.

At the risk of asking an obvious question why don't you contact a couple of concrete companies to get a price?

Ah just re-read the OP. He asked the cost of laying it, not the cost of supplying it.
The answer is roughly $25/m2.

a concrete placer providing his labour only will charge around $6 per sqmtr. this does not include any materials such as concrete, mesh, boxing etc.i use them about 2 times per week so know the current rate.

Thank you! Is this in Auckland?

so if they are doing a driveway thats 60m2 thats 60x6=$360 It would take them 2-3 hours to place/vibrate,screed ,trowel /float then come back a few hours later and finish the cut/broom finish, 2 hours . So thats 7 hours for 2 guys =14 hours $360 ./. 14= $25p/h .aswell as two clean ups ,waiting around for the concrete truck thats not always on time and running a vehicle ,advertising ,tool maintaince ,down time they would be lucky to make $22 p/h. And in the North Island?Really

So what is it then?

the o.p was asking for a rate for a 168sqmtr drive. the rate i gave them is correct. most placers will have a minimum charge for a small job.
