DIY cleaning heatpump coils

..pip.., Jan 24, 8:36am
Anyone cleaned their own heat pump evaporator coils? I notice our heatpump isn't sending out as cool a air as it used to and I suspect it's because the coils (behind the filters) and getting dirty. Anyone every done it themselves. I have found several places to buy the spray required but many sites are American, so wondered what you used here in NZ.

Rarely done & i used to sell & service them Provided cleaned the filter regulary . The outdoor unit often needs a clean stiff brush & compressded air if can do . Makes a big difference . then depending on age may need top up of refrigerant & summer is the best time to get it done

Thanks for that. Heatpump is 10 years old and cold air coming out is not as cold as it should be. Refrigerant must be the problem then as filters are cleaned regularly.
