Crazy strawberries

maynard9, Feb 24, 7:50pm
My plants have gone crazy sending out all these new runners but the leaves look different and the flowers are yellow.

I only had about 10 plants in there, freshly planted last season but now the bed is choker full of these runners.

The original plants had the usual white flowers with yellow centre, but these new plants the flowers are completely yellow and leaves look more pointed.

Not sure whether to keep them or not - they look alien.

Any thoughts

Have they been snipped from the original plants? I've never seen anything like that.

Might be creeping buttercup weed growing under them :o)

Sorry but that is not your strawberries, that is a weed infesting them,

Thanks so much - that is just what I was suspecting may have happened. Thank goodness it is only in the smallest bed so will be easy to just pull out.
They do look impressive tho and very healthy.
I thought they were too good to be true.
Interestingly I rang the local Oderings Garden Centre and they told me it was the type of strawberry plant I had bought and that some types always have yellow flowers. I knew this was BS as the original plants have always had the "proper" flowers.
Thanks heaps for confirmation
