Weatherboard house

We have a 50s weatherboard house (similar to some state houses) and I'm looking into renovations- at the moment I'm thinking about joinery (modern vs keep original style of house) - and wanted to look at other houses/projects for ideas/ inspiration.
Been for a drive- haven't seen much around here. Does anyone know of any areas/ houses/ streets in Auckland where there are renovated 50s/60s weatherboard houses? Or websites that might be useful?
Thought pt chev might be worth a drive around

Plenty of renos around there. Alot around Grey Lynn too. Alot seem to retain the existing fronts and alter around the back with more modern features. There are architects who specialise in this work.

Most people view the addition of aluminium joinery on a house with existing timber joinery as a negative (makes the addition part of the house stand out from existing like a sore thumb!). Timber joinery is more thermally effective than aluminium due to lack of thermal bridging, plus timber joinery can be made to hold double glazing and still match the original 'look' of existing timber joinery.

Another thing to consider is to make sure you can match the existing weatherboard profile with new exactly, otherwise it will also stand out & distract from matching in seamlessly.

Hackett street in Saint Mary's Bay, Auckland has some traditional weatherboard homes, I'm sure many have been added to over the years.

Hope this helps some!

Quite possible to get thermally broken Ali joinery though isn't it? We are about to start one with recessed thermally broken windows which are proving to be a nightmare to flash when combined with an unrealistic client.
