Swan plant and regrowing them

omaria, Jan 23, 2:15pm
My beautiful big swanplant has been stripped by a load of caterpillars which are about to hatch. Do the swan plants regrow after being stripped from it's leaves? There are plenty seed balls on them. Advice please.

Currently have 9 caterpillars and 7 chrysalis in a safe place and feeding them whats left of the swans.

Yes, they'll usually regenerate.Check regularly for any further eggs, and squish them. If the plant's in a pot, put it in a sheltered place over winter. Have done this on a covered deck in ChCh. Give it the occasional feed. Save the seeds when the pods are ripe, and sow them in early spring. Some swan plants survive happily for many years.

Yes they will, I have a lot of plants and have found by trial that removal of the seed pods before they fully develop helps the plants.
