Plant with orange flowers

I had a skinny looking plant in my garden with bright orange flowers on it.
Actually thought it was a weed, but it looked pretty, so left it there.
Today I notice it has been stripped bare, no leaves, or flowers, and monarch catterpillers by the heaps, feeding off the stalks.
Wondering if anyone would know what it could be. (or I should say was. lol)

yes the bottom right photo is exactly how the plant looks now. the flowers were a really bright colour, not red. will do some research.
thanks so much

I have that too, but the butterflies prefer to lay on the "normal" swan plants, and the caterpillars prefer "normal" too - although they will eat it if they have to. Sounds like a trip tpo the nursery/Warehouse for you, OP!
