Gardening by moon phases. Clap Trap or wise words?

I have the New Zealand Gardener magazine's Gardening Diary and it suggests exactly when plants should and should not be sown according to the phases of the moon. Is this a load of baloney, or is there a noticeable difference to how plants prosper?

Not a noticeable difference. It's more timing - that is, planting different veges according to the right time of year. Peas for instance hate hot summer.
If you are off the moon time by a week or so, it doesn't make much difference.

Says there is some evidence that it's effective but not strong.

It is not clap trap. Planting by the moon has been around for 'many moons'
You can also have your hair cut by the moon so you can choose to have less hair cuts. Just google it.

I think it was the Australian Home and Garden show on TV did an experiment and planting by the moon phases definitely worked, they had very marked differences with both flowers and veges.

Above all very true. Many fish species also sporn by the moon cycle such as adult whitebait, which lay their eggs at the top of a spring tide during the full moon and new moon .
However humans appear uneffected, although some here will disagree.
The word lunatic comes from a supposed mad person acting up on a full moon.
