really foamy and stinks real bad. is this normal or ok to use?

You need to put some powdered lime on the scraps, usually about a palm full is enough.

do i mix it in? I really have no idea if my worms are still alive all my scraps are going mouldy

You can delve into your worms with a blunt something and carefully turn over soil and look for worms, they do need a certain amount of care. Top up with food and start feeding slowly again. I put hessian cloth on the top of the food and danpen it before placing it down.There are good books at the library if you are unsure. hope this helps.
