Does anyone know What's a good sand for growing cuttings in? Is mortar sand from a builders yard like placemakers the same as sand from say a garden centre ? Thanks for any help

I would go with the sand from the garden centre just in case mortar sand may have other stuff added but you are adding the sand to a garden mix to grow cuttings

I find the smaller pumice really good for cuttings.

Daltons do a specific cutting mix. It is a mix of small pumice sand and soil less media. I find it very good.

I use old spent potting mix and slide all cuttings down the side of the pot. I seem to be lucky with cuttings, sure beats buying plants!

I have always used plain pumice sand, make sure it is sterilised or do what I used to do, grab the old girls saucepan and boil some up. I did it while she was out shopping. LOL.

Always used a fine Pumice at the Nursery. Results were a much stronger root system on the cuttings.
