So we need a hedge in front of a back fence.I was originally going to go with just griselinia littoralis. But now I am thinking of doing a mixed hedge of that and lophomyrtus red dragon. My question is whether they would grow at a similar height and would they actually look good together, should I add a third or not.ahhhh decisions decisions!

I really dislike stripey hedges, but it is a matter of personal preference of course. Stick to the griselina.

agree. If you're going to mix it, then incorporate 4-6 species as a mixed border .otherwise just stick with 1 type.Unless you like that look. Some other species you could include:Olearia paniculata; Pittosporum; Melicytus; Corokia sp; and dotted with clumps of cabbage trees (e.g)

Griselinia can succumb to frosts. Depends on you situation and soil. Dyou want a fine leaved look or abigger leave! Laurel looks similar to griselinia, will take well from cuttings and isn't frost tender. Makes a good dense hedge ; trim it once a year. Feijoa hedges can be good too.
