There are lots of links to seed fermenting on the web Edenrose.
Basically you just scrape seed and pulp into a container and cover with about an inch of water.
After about a week it will grow a revolting mould on the surface and smell pretty bad.
Lift the yucky mould of with a spoon and wash the seeds in a small strainer.
The gel around the seeds comes off really easy then and empty the strainer of clean seeds onto a plastic plate or cooking paper.
Set aside to dry then package in paper envelopes and store somewhere dark and dry.
And NO they wont germinate during fermentation.
Cheers.
Rosco.

Someone bought some into work and they were huge bright yellow ones. They were lovely. Does anyone know what variety they would be!

It's such a good year for tomatoes .All of ours have performed really well.Campari and Grosse Lisse have been great and are still very productive.

That looks great, what were the yellow and green stripey tomatos griff!

Can't wait for mine to fully ripen. They're looking so beautiful. Serve me right for getting 'em in late.

the bright yellow tomato could be a yellow brandywine, i took my first into work too lol. they are a big meaty tomato and bright yellow (mine was as big as a mango and as yellow as a lemon.

The green stripey ones are Green Zebra.a little bit tart, and plentiful

The yellow one is 'yellow perfection'some say that it's got no taste, but mine are less acidic than a normal tomato with a smooth flavour, great on toast with salt.My workmates rave about them

Should I have covered the fermenting tomato pulp/water mix!
I think that flies have laid eggs on the mix!Have tiny maggots in the mix.
Cleaned the seeds, just hope there is no "livestock" left on them!
Next batch I'll definitely cover, to be sure!

Not a problem i've ever encountered.
Don't see any reason why you couldn't cover them.
Regards.

Justfermented some seed in a couple of Yoghurt containers and covered with cling-film punched with holes, yes does pong and keeping it inside might smell a bit

They're not early, but make up for it with sheer flavour and bulk. I've tried a few different ones but for some reason keep coming back to them. Pink Brandywine is another goodie, plus Roma.

This year I grew one called Campari - a truss tomato (altho' the whole truss didn't ripen at once, like you see in the shops).- medium sized fruit and plenty of it.I was actually using them before Xmas, grown outdoors in a sunny corner - and I always thought outdoor tomatoes wouldn't ripen anywhere in NZ before Xmas!

Don't know how many kilos I picked off just the one plant, but kept two of us eating them every day for weeks, also made two batches of relish.I've kept some seed and will certainly grow it again next year.

siberian ! ,growing like crazy 130 at least of each plant ,they dont mind the cooler weather ,huge tomatoes .going to freeze lots to use later :)

dibble35, Mar 10, 10:56am
Is it tasty though! Mine are still going strong, the Tommy toe I think is set on taking over the whole garden, 100's and 100's of cherry toms on it, and they taste OK. Not really, reallynice like the white cherry tom but it certainly makes up for it in quantity. I fermented/saved my fav seeds a few days ago and spread them out on serviettes to dry this morn. Lucky my dad is thinking of building a fence up the side of the driveway, so if he does i'll have another 20M of narrow garden to grow my tomatoes up next year. will need the space with all the varieties that Rosco has given me, the ones i'm saving, and the ones I keep writing down to buy from off of here. LOL

Only ever grow moneymakers.Put them in too earlie this seasn and the frost got them. But they sprang up again with about 6 stems to each plant.Grew like crazy, then the wind folded them over and sort of broke them all in two,but still attached. Was going to rip them out and start a gain, but didnt.First year I havnt sprayed,as I lost interst in them. The portion that had folded over and lying on the ground kept on growing like ground cover.BLOODY tomatoes every where, beautifull round tomatoes.
Going to be a yummy winter.Bangers and mash, with halh a litre of relish.

Yeah its been a great season so far and with my crop only giving me a dozen a day make it a bonus as Im not having to spend all my spare time pickling n saucing and I can enjoy fresh toms every day. And Boy I tell ya stevee I have got a rather harsh addiction for the black ones eh. sweet ,juicy and bursts with goodness. I even have a licking for the not quite ripe ones , they start a party in the mouth and everybody's invited lol.

The pink brandywine sounds Interesting. purchase the seed from the local plant shop could I!
