Bunnings still have quite a stock of Wattyl paint but have decided to not stock it any more. We use a huge amount of Solarguard and Killrust at work and I always use Solarguard at home. So I guess I won't be going to Bunnings any more. Today at Bunnings there was one bored female in the paint section and customers waiting and not being served. There were no Wattyl paint charts that I could see. At the service desk there was someone on the phone for ages and no service. Is this the beginning of the end for Bunnings!

Theyve just scored sole rights to stock British Paints i was told recently.Just used 30L of the stuff, great coverage for 1/2 the price of other brands.Im happy with it. But. agree. their customer service sucks.

Funny how things go.Just before Benchmark became Bunnings they were making a song and dance about the fact they now had Berger paint as a house brand.Bunnings did have it but now its gone as well. Can't remember who made it but same situation as Taubmans and Wattyl. Then they had White Knight which has morphed into PGG or somesuch.
I'm guessing that British Paints is yet another "old" name that has been unearthed to be the house brand.Who actually makes it!

It's always frustrating when your go-to products suddenly become unavailable, especially when it comes to something as important as paint. I can understand why you might be disappointed that Bunnings will no longer be stocking Wattyl paint, particularly if you're a fan of their Solarguard and Killrust lines.
However, I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that this is the beginning of the end for Bunnings just yet. It's not uncommon for stores to discontinue certain products or brands for a variety of reasons, such as low sales or changes in supplier agreements. In fact, Bunnings is known for regularly reviewing and updating their product offerings to ensure they're providing the best value for customers.
That being said, I can see why your recent experience at Bunnings might have left a bad taste in your mouth. It's never fun to wait around for service or feel like you're not being heard. Hopefully, this was just an isolated incident and not a reflection of the overall service at your local store.
In terms of finding a new supplier for your favorite Wattyl paint lines, have you considered checking out other hardware or paint stores in your area? It's possible that they may still carry the products you're looking for, and you may even find new brands or options that you like just as much.
Ultimately, while it can be frustrating when your go-to products become unavailable, it's important to keep an open mind and be willing to explore new options. Who knows, you might even discover a new favorite paint brand that you never would have tried otherwise.

Henderson Bunnings have excellent customer service. Also they sell Zinsser, most excellent paint that, don't take my word for it, ask a professional painter.

G'day mates, are you in the market for some quality paint to spruce up your home? Well, let me tell you about Solagard paint from Bunnings - it's a great option for all your painting needs!
Solagard paint is a premium exterior paint that's specifically designed to withstand the harsh Australian climate. It's made with advanced UV blocking technology, which means it won't fade or peel in the sun. Plus, it's water resistant, so it won't wash away in heavy rain or hail.
But that's not all - Solagard paint also has a self-priming formula, which means you can apply it directly to most surfaces without the need for a separate primer. This can save you time and money on your painting project, which is always a good thing.
And let's not forget about the range of colours available. Bunnings stocks a wide range of Solagard paint colours to suit any taste and style. Whether you're after a classic white, a bold red, or something in between, you're sure to find the perfect shade for your home.
One thing to keep in mind when using Solagard paint is that it's designed for exterior use only. So if you're painting inside, you'll need to choose a different type of paint. But if you're painting the outside of your home, Solagard paint is definitely worth considering.
When it comes to application, Solagard paint is pretty straightforward to use. You can apply it with a brush, roller, or spray gun, depending on your preference. Just make sure you follow the manufacturer's instructions for best results.
All in all, Solagard paint from Bunnings is a great option for anyone looking to paint the exterior of their home. It's durable, water-resistant, and comes in a range of colours to suit any taste. So why not head down to your local Bunnings and check it out for yourself? Happy painting!

We went into our local Bunnings store last weekend to get some Wattyl Forestwood Decking Stain. They didn't have any Wattyl anywhere to be seen and the shop assistant told us that Bunnings were going out of Wattyl because Wattyl wouldn't go exclusive with them!

It's because it much easier to not have to match prices, which is easy if no one else stocks the product

AND Naenae Bunnings service is pretty damn good most of the time. Some staff make an extra effort and some dont. You cant blast the whole place because of that.

Bunnings are an Australian outfit profiting from the efforts of NZers (less than 0.61% of shareholders have addresses outside Australia). More and more we are seeing Australian products on their shelves and paint and paint accessories are just another example.

Hi, for your information folks,"Bunnings" is a subsidary company of "Readers Digest"which is an Australian company. I found this out when I bought a subscription to a Readers Digest woodworking magazine. The only advertising in it was for Bunnings . The only way they can guarantee lower prices is by having sole distribution rights to a product.

Not so far at my nearest Bunnings. I'm after some Solarguard roof paint very soon, so I'll be shopping around.

I was at Bunnings Mt Maunganui today. They are out of Wattyl but told me it's available at Mitre 10. We need to match up the house colour for the supports of a BBQ roof.

sounds like they want exclusive distribution so they can say things like 'we will match other shops prices and give 15% percent off' . if they are the only distributor then how can anyone find a match elsewhere!

I recently went to Bunnings and purchased 4 litres of Wattle Solar Guard;[chch Tower Junction] the only size they had left on the shelf at a cost of $109.95. Luckerly for me a mate phoned later that day to say Pacemakers had it on special, 8litres for $89-00 on a one day deal. I phoned them at 5pm to ask if they would honour the deal for early the next day, and yes they would. Promptly returned to Bunnings at 7am Monday for a refund and went over the road and got my deal. The simple reason why Bunnings are changing the product is simply that thay cannot match the deal of competitors, which would mean them paying out a 15% discount as they guarantee always the best price. better for them to come up with a generic alternative paint to cover there asses. This goes on in the industry all the time.

My local Mitre 10 Mega does not stock Solarguard in 1 or 2 or 4 litre tins. I just needed a little tin for window sills and handrails.

Bunnings, Shirley Homebase, Ch-Ch have been discounting Wattyl since before xmas, great prices too. Have always found great service at this branch accross all departments. Those concerned about Bunnings being Aussie owned, Just remember the vast majority of NZ'ers bank their money into Aussie banks !.

Totally agree - the workers have always been polite and keen to help. Got some cheap wattyl oil stain last year for $20. i see some signs in sawyers arms rd - wattyl's have got a trade shop somewhere there.
