We have a Panasonic miccrowave which has a few chips of the paint inside Is there a special paint or would any nonmetallic one do?

You're probably best to contact Panasonic in Auckland rather than ask us amateurs. They might have a touchup kit suitable for microwave internals, or would at least be able to advise you correctly as the manufacturer. http://www.panasonic.com/nz/

most appliance repair places have touch up paint. i don't recall it being a special paint but ask the shops or panasonic.

Any touch up or spray paint will do. Just as long as it is lead free. Fairly sure they don't put lead in any paint now but best to check anyway.
