Has been in a photo frame and now part of it is stuck to the glass.Any ideas on how to release it without ripping the photo.

Get a wide, flat, very sharp blade and slide it between the photo and the glass while you are gently lifting the photo away from the glass.
Slide the blade along the surface of the glass, not the other way around, and keep the angle of the blade as low as you can.
P.S. I think freezing it will make the photo's pigments brittle, and therefore more likely to break off.

Another way is to take a nylon thread the width/length of photo/glass. Gently slide the thread down between the two layers and with even pressure pull the 2 ends down between the layers. MJ

used in the days of paper photos to soak in a solution of warm water with a few drops of dishwash photo would float off after a while.
