Have painted downstairs with colours like pavlova sisal, resene colours. Now onto the skirtings and architraves, am going to use 8 inch mdf for skirtings downstairs. Any thoughts on a colour for skirtings please. Would like to use same colour on architraves. Thanks

We replaced the skirtings with the original rimu and painted them the same colour as the walls, architraves are also rimu but natural with a satin finish, we like it, our ceilings are also original rimu T&G

Too much contrast between walls and skirtings can sometimes look odd. I have seen some villas where the skirting and architraves are the same base colour just a few shades darker, it can look very classy if done right.

Mine had rimu. It was left varnished.
