Cleaning pink mildew/lichen off weatherboard

I've been waterblasting the house. It's painted weatherboard, and the south side is mouldy and also has this pink mildewor lichen stuff that grows in little spots. Where it's really thick, it's reddish-brown.

I scrubbed the weatherboard with sugar soap first then blasted it.
Everything looks much better except the pink spotty stuff hasn't really come off much. I'm afraid to really scrub at it in case the paint comes off with it.

Anybody know what that stuff is, and how to clean it off!

It is mildew. Just use a strong bleach and water solution - spray on and leave it for at least 12 hours so you kill the mould spores which are in the paint not on the surface of the paint. Rinse off well and it should be ok. If not repeatthe procedure. It will come again - like rust, mould never dies it just sleeps waiting for moisture and weather to make it grow again.
