Soil Saturation

I am after some advice, I had an empty garden - was just dirt, which I planted some daisies into it.However when I water it the water just pools on the top of the soil and takes some time to penetrate it.Is there something I can add to the soil to correct this! Thanks :)

you can buy a product called saturaid which helps the water to penetrate, or add a drop of dishwash liquid to your watering can.
But, really, the best thing is to dig in lots of compost - easier before you plant, unfortunately for your daisies. But a good layer of compost around your plants will help a bit.

Is this a clay soil type ,it sure sounds like it !
Compost is great ,but you can start the process of improving soil structure by aerating the area you want to use next with a heavy garden fork.Lots of holes as deep as you can make them .Next spread GYPSUM over the area at 1-2. kg per square meter and make sure it gets into the holes .It is very fine so do it in a calm morning and water it in .
This will slowly combine with the clay to improve soil structureand conditions for growth .
It is not a fertilizer in the normal sense.
