Pollen on Solar panels

poolgirl6, Aug 17, 3:08am
My panels on the roof have turned a lovely yellow. I understand rain will not wash the pollen off.
How have others dealt with this problem.
And who can I get to do the job please?
Will need a ladder to reach some of the panels.
Many thanks.

rain should wash it off unless its perfectly flat.

Get yourself a house wash brush - extend it out turn on the water and give them a wash

This is the case for ground mounted PV installations, assuming you have the room to do so. Ease of cleaning, maintenance and no degradation of roofing surfaces. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/proxy/Y4u6SGXmIgQR6pM57gMWkpbP1PHzWykRF6-FGiUt8Ks8DXPBQ6S905q3XjhtTazzJhs5bCocmUR05DgW4X7pJH7yLfWeGppm

Probably a website protected image I linked to.
Just Google "ground mounted solar panels" like I did. This is one result: https://mysolarquotes.co.nz/about-solar-power/residential/components/ There's a photo about halfway down the webpage under "Ground mounting".

No need for expensive steel framework either. We did an installation mounted on 1/4 round posts and timber framing. There's a photo of it on our website in the Blog section. Won't put up a link to that as TM will probably bleat.

Even solar panels on campervans need cleaning - brush on a diluted dishwash solution and then rinse with clean water, A soft brush with a long handle is required!

One good sized bird dropping will reduce panel output by up to 50%
