What are those heavy plastic carpet mat protectors

called and where can I get them. My carpet at the door and by the sofa are wearing out and I need to put something down. They are heavy and transparent and would look better than putting down mats but guessing they are quite expensive.

I got a roll of it from Para Rubber. They will cut to length and available online.

The down side is that they walk all over the carpet unless you nail them down. I've got one of those expensive very heavy keyhole protectors under my desk chair. Just walking across it every day to open and close the blind makes it move until it actually bunches up against the side of the desk.

We had one in a hall way in front of the main door that even had spikes on the bottom and it still shuffled around. Also slippery if you come in with wet shoes/feet.

I agree with Supernova 2 - I had them & chucked them.

Can you get a piece of the same carpet you have, & get it edged to act as a matching mat? Would look better than plastic & be more effective

Well I am looking round at the mo to see what I can get and those carpet protectors are expensive. I am going to the Rug Shack tomorrow as I understand they have mats at reasonable prices. My carpet is wearing out and I need to protect it for a few more years yet.

I got left over pieces of new carpet made into mats but they creep all over the floor where they are and need moved probably twice a day, i've tried the rubber mat stuff and tape that's supposed to fix it but it doesn't help. I think tacking it into the floor will be the only thing to do.

Maybe get some carpet in a similar colour bound and made into mats to fit? Carpet places often have mats ready made that might match.
