We are building a house - I like the look of clear glass however I have been told that my nylon carpets will still fade unless I get tinted glass. Please tell me if your nylon carpet has deteriorated and how old the carpet is. Thanks

I have dark grey SDN carpet ,7years on and no fading. My house has 3 large ranch sliders and the colour hasn’t changed at all I am very happy with my choice.

We have SDN and would never buy wool again.there is no fading and some of the windows are clear.The wool carpet faded badly very quickly .The SDN was not made in China.

I have a horrible blue carpet - nylon. No idea ho old, we have been here 8 years, not new when we arrived for sure, and yes it's faded a lot. North facing lounge. It's good in a way, I hate the carpet and now at least it's more like bleached jeans.

Personally, i would never buy wool. We had an insurance claim, there was wool carpet down, so the assessor insisted we needed wool to replace it. I asked the retailer for a carpet that wouldn't 'track' as so many wool ones, do. He assured me, gave me a verbal guarantee that the carpet he was selling would NOT track. Why didn't I get it in writing. Of COURSE it tracked. Within a few weeks there was a fluffy area where I sat at the table. The verbal guarantee was as good as the paper is was(n't) written on. I hadn't paid for it in total. I refused to pay more, got taken to the disputes tribunal. Won, but lost in that I had to pay half of what I was owing, and in the meantime had sold the house. THAT rankled.

Good SDN will never fade! All my houses and rentals only have it now, harder wearing, cheap(ish), better colors, stain proof/resistant and through Carpet Mill has a 20 year guarantee on fade and defects.

It’s all to do with daylight saving causing fading. Aside from that we found PET carpet good.
