Advice about rose bushes please.

We bought this house over 6 months ago, and the garden is not huge but has lots of roses dotted everywhere. The roses are lovely colours but not really where I want them to be. They are now well pruned back and I want to plant them up our long drive ( we are on a back section) There are a mixture of standard (5 of them) and bush (10 or so of them) What I want to know is should I alternate the standards with the bush ones or what do you think would look better?

Personally I would alternate the bush ones and standard ones.

Thanks, that was my first thought but I know things are planted differently now like in groups of 3 so it had me second guessing myself!

Personally, I think a rigid row of roses looks sort of contrived.
If you have the depth of garden available, I would plant a standard slightly towards the back of the garden with preferably 3 bush roses round the base.
I would then leave a decent gap (maybe pockets of space for annuals/perrenials?) and repeat.

It's a shared driveway, so I have limited space on my side, so really only room for a single bush. But I think it will be a vast improvement on what it is at the moment, which is stony and uneven ground. Otherwise with nowhere else for the roses to go they would just be dumped. This is going to add some colour to an otherwise very drab area.

I would plant just bush roses on the driveway, and the five standards somewhere else in the garden if you can find somewhere.
The standards would look nice against a wall or a fence

Just remember. roses have thorns,.if space is limited. it's not pleasant to be attacked upon exiting the car
