They've almost finished flowering now, so when can I take them out of the garden? Do I have to wait until all the foliage has died off and gone brown? Mainly spraxia & ixia which I no longer want. The bluebells and snowdrops I'll move.

If I want to remove them I always do it after flowering. Easy to see where they are.

It is advised to wait until they have died down, as removing them too quickly deprives the bulbs of nutrients it would get from the leaves.

Yes, I agree but if they are replanted this will occur. Difficult to find all your spraxias and ixias after they have died down.

Just mark the spot so you don't lose them, the leaves have to die down naturally to feed the bulb like someone else said😀

thanks. I will let them die down, but will definitely "mark the spot".

if you don't want to retain the ixias and sparaxias, it's easier to dig them before they die down as they will be firmly attached to the stems. As they are small bulbs you'll find some coming up for several years and you'll have to remove them as they appear if you don't want them at all.

You definitely wit till the foliage has completely died, as that is where the bulb gets all its nutrients from. Which is exactly why so many of us lose the darn things as we always say "must remember to shift the bulbs!" Those plastic bulb baskets you can buy are great, as if you plant your bulbs in those, in the garden, makes them dead easy to find and shift and they don't end up sinking down and getting lost.
