I haven't used it as you have to rent tanks and it isn't worth it for the occasional job.

I think you will find plasma cutting has takern over, i dont think theres a rental system for bottles now, makes the whole exercise very costly

afaik its still rental for the bottles.

gas cutting is still used, there is limits to what most peoples plasmas setups can handle.
some guys use lpg plus o2.

Coregas (ex supagas) do exchange bottles and you can buy bottles from extols. You can swap them over at some Bunnings stores.
Talking to the coregas man at the field days, acetylene have to be swapped as no one fills owner bottles any more in nz.

To answer OP's question. Yes that equipment is still used in lots of mechanical/engineering/plumbin-
g/panel workshops every day.
