I had my metal swings powder coated - still good after 20 years.

It depends on how long you want it to last. I would recommend scrubbing it with a paint prep product to remove oxidised paint first. If it is powder coated now then you will need an adhesion primer and then two top coats of whatever you have lying in the shed. Lumbersider or lustacryl will be a good 'normal' paint option.

Whats your budge!. For professional standard, prime with P.A 10 and topcoat with PA topcoat. or Hammerlight do a hard coating range of metal cover products ( used on trailers , beams etc). For general garden use household undercoat and oil based gloss will last a few years. Even water based acrylic will last a while also. Only danger is that check paint bases are lead free. Most have been for many years (since early 70's in most cases).
