White water based paint on blue carpet. Have tried water, no joy. White spirits?

Whenever I drip paint onto carpet I never even try and wipe or rub it off, instead I let it dry and then trim it off with scissors.

Try some dissolve-it followed by napisan. I got crimson paint out of cream carpet with it - thanks, cat!

Depending on how deep into the pile, or if you have tried to wipe it up when it was wet, sometimes you can pick it out when its dry. I have had success in the past leaving it to dry without touching it, then using a pair of pliers to squish the spot from all directions then picking it out bit by bit.

I have waited until dry and then lifted up the pile with a fork and sliced off the paint with a steak knife.

Get a brass wire brush from local hardware store. Mitre 10 (or similar) sells a set of three little wire brushes (plastic, brass and steel) for five bucks or thereabouts. Use the BRASS one to get the paint out. Steel will tear up the carpet and plastic probably won't get the job done (though you could try the plastic one).

Additional: I'd test any chemical on a spot of carpet that won't be seen before using it on a more visible area.
Husband had one. not for BBQ cleaning. and he had walked through the house carrying it. For a year after I was, every now and then, picking bits of wire out of my feet. There's a whole bunch of stories about them. that ended in hospital - not just ingesting them. nasty things those.
I would use a normal scrubbing brush - with stiff bristles, or as has been said, pick it off.

@9 Unless they are scrubbing holes in the carpet, then eating off of it, I think you might just be over-reacting. The brushes I have in mind may be cheap, but I have never seen the bristles merely fall out of them

bookman and rainrain know best - meths with a soft cloth will remove acrylic paint.

I got some 'Miracle Kumclean' paint brush cleaner from Placemakers, cleans brushes very easily, even dry traces of paint; also says "remove paint and grease from fabrics" on the bottle.

Sandpaper. 40 or 60 grit. 80 if its fine carpet. I called bullshit on it, but the painters that fixed the house via eqc were right. It did work
