To all of you saying don't do it, my neighbour has just sold a deceased estate house lot of top quality mahogany furniture to a second hand dealer and he got $1200 for the lot. The dealer says there is no market for it, most people do not want it.
I have a mahogany bedroom chest here but to sell it and repurchase something made of inferior timber would probably cost more than what I would get for the mahogany drawers. Our Op shops charge ridiculous prices for rubbish furniture. I have read reviews of the chalk paint and it sounds very easy to use with minimal prep. Go for it OP.
