Help please, Interier paint peeling off ceiling

skye96, Nov 28, 9:08am
And today Ive noticed that its in other rooms as well. I can see Gib board, the paint has come completely off. Do I sand it back all the area or chisel it back and then what do i do to stop it peeling any further. Lady DIY here so nothing too technical, plain language only, as Im going to have to do this myself.

This is probably due to insufficient dusting before painting. Don't scrape too much because you will probably end up doing massive areas. sand the area to smooth out the edges of the paint, clean well, seal with gib board sealer and recoat in ceiling paint.

Yep It happened to me too.Faulty preparation was the cause. Always better to sugar soap and undercoat I have learned to my cost.
Use good quality top coat too.

Thank you so much, it is something I can do within my power. Been waiting for "Someone" to do it but I am more than capable to do it myself.
Most appreciated.
Thanks.

I would try and get some one in to have a look.If the stoppers were any good there shouldnt be much if any dust on the gib itself just along the edges of the joins and then not that much.

Ive seen dust effect paint soaking into gib but never to the extent of actually seeing the gib board id say its some other issue moisture maybe.

yea i was thinkng mosture or maybe not sealed at all but normaly not sealing just shows all the joins. It is something that needs to be seen to know for sure

Thanks I'll see if someone can check on the moisture thing. This peeling started ages ago, now its come down the hallway sort of in line .If that makes sense,Its not on the edge just appearing all down the middle.
