How to blacken a free standing Fire Flue

molly37, Mar 30, 7:23am
We have a free standing Kent Wood Fire Place. The black flue is not as dark and there are some marks on it like its rubbing off. I remember when I was younger my mother would use a product on our Pot Belly to keep it black. Is there a product that can be used to blacken it?

Yeah, high temp black spray paint. Mitre10 should have it.

Your mother would have used Stove Blacking. I doubt if anyone makes it any more. Go with the high temp black spray paint. Remember to protect everything around it from overspray.

Yep. Known as VHT paint. Buy it in an aerosol spray can - one can may be enough.

You can still get stove black at hardware stores.

VHT stands for Very High Temperature. May also be available from places like Supercheap Auto's and Repco
