Scarlet runner beans

I have a lovely crop of scarlet runners but something else enjoys them too.
There are holes in the leaves. I saw something like this a few years ago and it ended with the leaves going brown and losing the whole lot.
Does any one have a good home remedy for this?

Insects and snails will will always take their share of your spoils, and most of the time with little effect to what you get from your crop.
If you are anti spray, then other than soapy water, there are few options.
Personally, I don't mine using a little shield or what ever to keep them under control, but tend to use a watered down dilution rate, and withold eating anything for 10 days.I also hose down whatever i have sprayed, after two days to wash off the residue.

Thanks for your help. I am picking the beans at the moment so I will need to be careful what I spray. The fresh beans are very yummy. Would baking soda sprayed on be of any use do you think?
