They will come up again next spring but I usually let them completely brown off before cutting back to ground level & I renew every second year.

I also let mine brown off, collect some dried beans to replant next year, to fill in gaps. When dried off, put stems in compost bin. They will come up again next spring, and shoudl give you beans by Xmas.I also plant more, in case any do not come up.Happy gardening.I am also still getting lots of beans, as water with rain water, shower water, etc.

I used to keep all my old plants, and cut them back for next year after they had died down, but now find that they are slower to start growing again the next season, and then when they do its only then you find a few have died off over winter.I now prefer to keep some of the bigger old beans on the vine to dry off and harvest for next season. i plant them out in large containers away from any late frosts on my deck, in compost. Then plant them out asap. This season i would have 80 plants over 3 diff ereas and have beens to pick for Africa.

We usually just let ours die back then cut them off and leave them to come up the following year. This year only about half of them came up, there were hardly any flowers, and a sum total of 9 beans. Not to be outdone, my other half decided he would sow a crop of dwarf beans, sowed two packets of beans (100 beans) and three weeks later all we have is four pumpkins and three tomatoes. There is absolutely no sign of the beans, they seem to have vanished.Would they have been eaten or maybe the soil was too moist and they rotted away! Any ideas!
