Depends whether the leaves are dropping and the stems turning black. If not, take a look at the growing tips - if they're green then the plants are only under stress, and giving them plenty of water should do the trick as griselinia are pretty tough.

We were warned when purchasing our Griselinias that they can be susceptible to disease especially in Auckland, and if one dies take it out immediately to prevent the others dying also. Having said that our hedge has been in 4 or so years and is looking fabulous.

Thanks for all the tips, gave them a good soaking last night and first thing this morning, fingers crossed now.
