I want to fill some areas beside the house with concrete.Approx 1.2m x 0.4m and 75mm deep. Do I need any reinforcing. It will have very little use. cheers

It is a good idea to use reinforcing. Untill the chch earthquake it was not a legal requirement to put reinforcing in the slab of a single level house. Also a lot of concrete drives pathes etc were poured over the years without steel in them. Now days that practice is frowned upon and considered rough. Reinforcing steel is cheap. Also make it a minimum of 100mm deep

For such a small area and if no vehicles can get on it and it is on well compacted ground I would not bother.

Ditto as per post #3. really small area. Nothing to worry about. Basically a weed band is it?

No reinforcing needed for that area, but I would up the thickness to 100km if I were you

Really, 100km I think it's *a bit* of an overkill !

He should notify the local airport and put a flashing light on the top!

A bonus is if you install a big elevator you might be able to rent it out to various space agencies. Rockets could be a fraction of the size if they can launch them from the top of the atmosphere.

Ditto all the other posts, but 75mm is plenty for that size.
