Yes it is violets, have them in my garden and have spread to lawn. A real nuisance.

I've got them growing all round the edges of the retaining walls which surround the lawn, and I think they're lovely, when they start to creep onto the lawn I just mow them, and keep them in check that way.
Violets are my favourite flower (along with roses and carnations and freesias)

I've got a few in my lawn and also all through my ugly weedmatted bark gardens, and I don't mind them at all. A pretty touch of colour and I'm happy to live with them.

Fine by me! Worse things in life to worry about than violets. :)
