after years of trying in vain to keep my heritage and glamis castle roses free of rust I have given up and dug them out.I want to replant a few new roses and love the old fashioned look, but wonder is there a rose out there that will cope with the humid damp waikato! Looking at comte de chambord, the aunwick rose, gertrude jekell,princess alexandra of kent. While I realise the last three are again austin roses I wonder if the 'newer' ones are any healther!

I live in the Waikato too,and know the rose problems we have here.The healthiest ones i have are 'Penelope',Leander,Spa- rkler,Buff Beauty-all prolific with virtually no diseases.I do not spray.You could ask advice at Wairere roses at Gordonton-they have the strongest,healthiest roses i have ever bought.
