Replacing bath taps in a 1950's house

I want to replace these old taps with a bath mixer and shower diverter. Is there anything I should to know before purchasing the new mixer, like will the 1950's plumbing sizing etc cause problems with a new tap or should I be avoiding certain tap makers, designs or metals used in making them. Thanks.

not a plumber, but be aware a 1950s house is now 60 + years old and possibly piped in galvanised pipe, These fittings are fine until someone has to work on them, they will be corroded and break off when loosened off. Be prepared to have extra fittings on hand, or maybe get a reputable plumber.
(the cold will possibly be in galv)

Talk to a plumber before purchasing taps,be guided by their experience, have often found a customer will get a fitting that will not be correct or cost more in the long run . g l

Our house is circa 1969/70 and we had a plumbers advice as we too had to change a lot of the fittings and then do a lot of plumbing to cope with it. Ended up re-running our mains water as well.

Thank you all for the wise words, I suspected as much. Consult a plumber first it is!
