Painting old weathered tin garden shed

Just moved into house with old galv tin shed,which could be 50 years old. never been painted,do i have to seal,or can i use water based house paint.

prime with galvanised primer is best, then 2 coats water based house paint

For my similar one, i just washed it and painted with multiversal paint,
http://www.agrippapaints.co.nz/product/multiversal-multi-purpose-paint stuck just fine, had another coat last year, as only did one coat 3 years before, and wanted it to match freshly done garage. Done boths roofs and carport too, only priming first, was some wire brushed rust patches - with cold galv on shed. Also done same on fences, used the stuff for donkeys years now. And used it's mate flakaproof on house roofs. http://www.agrippapaints.co.nz/product/flakaproof-roof-paint Good paint, its the linseed oil in it, makes it stick well to most things, no good for water collection though.

ive also used multiversal paint, its hard to beat , for the price.
