I have seen a rose which is very like Sally Holmes,(open and single petals) only its yellow. Has a reddy centre lots of stamens, quite strong yellow then pales out to a lemon round the top of the petals. Any thoughts. Appreciate any answers in advance. Cheers
Where did you see this rose? Some of the florist roses are grown commercially and not available to the public. Also cooler weather can cause a blush on the pettles.
Appreciate all your help, realise its a minefield sometimes. But the 2nd photo in from rainrain1 attached picks is very like it, except the one in question has a deeper buttery yellow. I saw it in a dear ole ladies garden in Akaroa, she had no idea what it was, and very kindly let me take some cuttings. So fingers crossed. I did take a pick on my cell but 'to hard' basket to put a pick up on here, no idea what to do. All of you will absolutely love it, very fresh and even the leaves are slightly different. Thankyou to all.

Now I'm more convinced than ever that it is Golden Wings. It's an Austin Rose - quite early - and like most things - if you took six pics of the subject in six locations - I'd pretty much guarantee they'd all look different!. A lot will depend upon the soil it is growing in and the placement too. If it has full on sun all day it'll be paler, generally, than if it had some respite from it. Also, it would come out a stronger colour and fade. I just went out to prove a point on my bush - only to find one manky bud and all the other flowers over. Oh well! The stamens, too vary a lot -some pics will show just yellow stamens whereas other show the reddening stamens (like Margaret Merrill)
They also come in Standard's and are $70 each and are bloody spectacular, a local retirement village have been buying a number of them as the residents all want them in the gardens lol.

The first photo is the standard (yellow) and true to colour a red centered rose fading to a butter yellow with strong stamens and single petal florabunda form. It's like an old fashioned rose, very pretty and feminine. The spent flower fades to cream with a pink to red center. And I forgot to sniff it to see if it is fragrant.

Apart from me getting a job in a bookshop, fabric shop or library my next best thing would be to have a brother, or sister, with a garden centre.
