Planting leeks

Can someone tell me please,how important is it to trench plant leeks versus deep planting. Thanks for any comments.

I've never 'trenched' them. I plant them deep & that's it. Had great crops this way.

Thanks samanva, cheers, i have but just saw neighbor has trenched hers, and shes a pretty good gardener, but i'll now leave mine.

I have tried both ways and reverted to deep planting - usually make a hole with stick and place them down. Use animal manure in the early stages to get them started well

my grandfather placed a clay field tile vertically around each plant. this forced them to grow up the inside of the tile to get to the light. this resulted in really long white trunks.
