Leaf cutter bees

I bought the cocoons in January and they all hatched, now there are none at all that have come back to the house, I think it was a one hit wonder. Are there any other places I can buy these cocoons from instead of BeeGap and does anyone have any spare they are willing to sell please?

I'm interested as well. Mine hatched out around November & a lot of the holes are plugged up, so I'm hoping that they are hibernating until it gets warmer & they'll be out & about again.
I got mine through Farmlands, but I think they get them from BeeGap anyway.

Sounds like they have come back to your little house samanya, maybe I should try Farmlands as well, they arnt cheap to buy tho,and was hoping they would have multiplied like they say they do, I have lots of plants and flowers as well, so bit of a disappointment, are you in Auckland?

No, I'm in North Canterbury.
I saw them coming & going from their house over summer & put a flat planter saucer, with a layer of pebbles on the bottom, full of water for them. I read somewhere that this is what they need . never saw them drinking though.
I have heaps of flowers etc, but I put mine in the vege garden which is handy to flower gardens as well as fruit trees, berry fruit etc.
I noticed leaves on plants 'cut' so knew they were working around. Some of the original cocoons didn't hatch out so here's hoping that I get some this year . they are not cheap to buy.

When I was at Kings on Friday, they had a bug house display. One of the items was loosely rolled corrugated card with twigs and hollw stalks pushed tgrough it, and the lot tied with twine. I think I'm going to do it and find a way of roofing it before placing it in my teenaged peach tree for fun. It should last a season or so if I place it under the eaves a bit, and we'll see if anyone decides it is worth colonising!
