Climbing rose help!

My climbing rose is very healthy but has a reddy colour shoot growing from the base should I cut it off - doesn't look like the other branches?/

You remove it by twisting it by hand and pulling it off as its just a sucker coming out of the root stock. Do not cut it off as it will grow again.

Wish I'd seen this before I cut mine off a couple of days ago, but I'll remember for next time.

Reddy coloured shoots may not be suckers, they may be new shoots which you train up.
Make sure you do not cut off too soon.

Rule off thumb for roses. anything under the graft is root stock and vigorous. Remove it.

Anything above the graft is grafted stock. You keep.

Older roses I like to use wire brush to clean base and stimulate new shoots.

I agree quite often new shoots ca be reddish but if the foliage differs to the rest then remove it.
