Looking for a std rose suitable to plant in mass up both sides of a tiered pathway . setting of a lovely red brick shuttered window house .
Looking at under planting with catmint and having buxus borders on the outside .
I like white . thinking Iceberg but I know there are others out there . Any suggestions please ?
TIA.

What colour are the shutters?
I have grown to like Iceberg a lot, it seems to hold it's lovely limish green leaves a lot longer into the winter than other roses.
I really like the burgundy Iceberg with it's paler underside to it's petals, but whether it would 'go' with your bricks, I'm not sure.
I don't think you could go wrong with white roses, the blue of the catmint & the buxus . quite a formal look.

Shutters , purely decorative are a grey/ french blue colour , Windows white square full length bays and a lovely veranda with white decorative baulastrades ( sp) runs along the front of house with these windows and matching glass door opening out onto it
I have white icebergs under our kitchen window with buxus hedge under planting , as well as a std burgundy iceberg in this garden we have here.
Burgundy would be wrong colour but I definitely would place one in a border . Beautiful as is rhapsody in blue . a bush rose .
We are looking at purchasing this brick property . and I am drooling over the garden I can create . Good bones and trees .

Avalanche does even better for me than Iceberg. Slightly creamy in colour when first open & fading to white. Masses of blooms just smother the bush. Repeats continuously with lovely healthy green leaves. The only 'fault' is such heavy trusses, I need to deadhead out in the rain in case the weight snaps branches!
Would look lovely in the setting you describe.
Salmon pink roses? (look good against red brick & blue' purple tones)

I second standard Iceberg.
Freesia ia another good doer too.

just get so sick of seeing std icebergs every where, especially the white ones. If you can get them, possibly try std carpet roses. All the colours are nice. I had a glorious coral one once. Why not try a variety of colours all lined up.

I like the idea of Iceberg. A trouble free, perpetual bloomer which always looks healthy. Just requires deadheading when necessary.

I have both Iceberg & Margaret Merrill which I think MM may be more fragrant.

I used to feel like you, sick to death of standard icebergs, but have come to realise that they do have their place. Sure there are better roses (imo) but are they available as standards? I have some 'Illuminous'(sp) white roses . every bit as good as Iceberg, but because they are not as popular, I'd be surprised if they are available as standards.

MM is a good choice. I like Jacqueline du Pre as well, lovely wine coloured stamens . it's all about what appeals, really, isn't it?

Deep secret. A highly scented deep red/black colour, absolutely stunning rose

Iceberg is a lovely rose. My personal favourite is Elina, a HT with beautiful colour and form, very healthy and great vigour. A little lacking in perfume tho.

Thanks all . I know Iceberg is so everywhere . Will google some of your suggestions .
