Why would you do it?

Why wouldn't you ? it is much easier than gloss but it depends where you are painting,

When we moved to our present house flat paint had been used extensively indoors. i found it hard to clean - fly spots, fingermarks, etc and in decorating we have used a washable paint with a slight sheen - cleaning is a breeze. Capricorngirl

Low sheen is easier to clean. Flat paint looks the best imo

Taubmans make an acrylic enamel "Ultraproof" with an "eggshell" finish (in between flat and low sheen). Tougher than low sheen, doesn't mar as easily as fully flat acrylic. Seems to wipe clean better than conventional acrylic. Good for walls in wet areas / kitchens, laundries etc. It's very good - but expensive - about twice the price of ordinary premium acrylic interior wall paint. I've used it as ceiling white - a very expensive way to paint a ceiling, but if you want white ceilings in a kitchen, it's terrific - wipes clean.

Flat wall paint ? I used the same paint that I used for curved walls !

LOL but really we used low sheen and it washes beautifully.

Same - I got all the paint for a new house I built from Resene. They had about 4 degrees of gloss for their water based paints, I used one that was a just one level of gloss higher than their flat paint. No trouble washing/wiping.
I used low sheen oil based enamel for doors and trim in the came colour.
