i have a small rose bush that I notice on the stems has white spots with a black centre - never seen it before. What is it and how to deal with it or should i pull the rose out. have another rose and it is fine. Only difference beloved cat buried under the one with spots.

could be fungus can you spray it with a rose spray may have to ask at a nurseries as to what type Or google there is a site you can see different problems

Did the google thing but did not show my problem - have some shield here and am going to give it a dose of that when the sun goes in.

It will probably be scale insect and spraying with an oil will help, adding insecticide even better if you are not opossed. A spray with lime sulphur when fully dormant helps as well. It softens the hard shell not sure why that works but it does.
@wheelz - YES ! I may even consider replacing it with something else
