Rose identification help please

If it has a really strong smell (gorgeous!) My guess is that it could well be Dioressence. It opens quite a pinky mauve and as it ages, it develops this beautiful silvery lilac colour. It is one of my absolute favourites for scent but I do have to warn you that it can be a bit of a fader. I've never been able to keep one for many years - it just seems to weaken every season. But - the upside is - Tasman Bay have them!

Oh, re moving it - wait until June.

Thank you piquant, your description of the colour is spot on, and yes it is a very strong smell. Sounds like I'd be better off buying new plants then, rather than trying to move and save this one. or perhaps I could try taking cuttings at the end of the season! I'm quite new to growing roses, but I understand they grow quite well from cuttings!

Sounds like Blue Moon to me, that often shows up a pinky purply colour and has the most yummy fragrance which I'd describe as spicy/ cinnamon!

I immediately thought Blue moon.
Don't do cuttings: modern roses all do best grafted onto a stock. Move it in winter.

I thought possibly Blue Moon too - one of my favourites ever since childhood :)
