Building steps/path down hill

I'm looking to build some steps down a hill on my property. Googling I find you can anchor the stair runners using steel rebars on either side every metre or so.

Does anybody have experience doing this? How effective is the rebar method for holding the steps? How deep would I need to hammer the rebars so they would hold steady over the years?

The rebars are only going to work if the stair runs on top of the groundmbut they won't as one end will be above the ground or dug in according to how the stair treads sit level. iI would suggest you concrete in H4 Tanalised fence posts say 400 into the ground and up say 1200 which you will also fix your hand rail to when you know what your pitch is,The stair can then be bolted to the posts, You may be better to engage someone with a few clue's to assist you with what is a straight forward job that may turn into a problem if you go about it the wrong way,

Hi, thanks for your post. I want to get away with doing this without using concrete if I can. These are two examples of what I'm trying to do:

There are instruction sheets available at M10 + ? Bunnings for these jobs
I suggest that you get some + do your homework before starting-could save you a lot of grief + money
