Has anybodyelse noticed blackspot on their roses! Some of mine have got it rather severe. I keep on spraying with shield and super shield.

Search on Black Spot in the keyword box and you will find lots of advice

That is early twinklestar!I'm afraid I don't have any answers though.I just underplant all my roses with other flowering things so that it distracts from the black spots. When it becomes too bad I generally do a medium sized prune.I tend not to spray my flowers now even with fungicides because we have bees and I don't want to harm them in any way.(All prunings disposed of in the rubbish so as not to spread the disease and to make sure my compost is not full of tiny thorns!).

What plants do you underplant your roses with! I would gladly do this instead of spraying.

Pretty much anything that doesn't grow too tall and has pretty pink, purple or white flowers (the colour theme of the roses).Currently, I have pansys carnations, dianthus, begonias, polyanthus and have just cut all the stalks off the stock which became a little too tall.I think it helps that the wind can circulate amongst the roses but my roses look pretty bad at times.Thankfully people notice the things in flower.I guess its a cottagey look without being a true cottage garden.I wish I had more time to spend in it.

I have had a look around at my neighbours roses and she has blackspot on hers as well. I was worried it was just me.lol. Have put plants underneath and around like nasturtiums, pansys etc.

teaspoon of baking soda in a litre of water. Havent tried myself but read in organics magazine. Worth a try being so cheap.

I went to the rose nursery and spoke to them and they said to apply shield 2-3 times a week, due to severity of the balckspot and its starting to clear :).
