I think it says on the packet not to use anything with glass, I know it used to.

Do it properly. You don't want a mirror coming off the wall and hitting someone or god forbid a child.

We have a 6.8 kg mirror to hang above a fire place. The mirror was cheap as, ($35 from KMart). Just wondering if anyone has used the 3m sticky hangers, we would purchase the correct one for the weight, but just looking for advice if they work well?

That seems pretty heavy to me. I hang my dressing gown off one and it weighs a bit but not nearly 7 kgs though.

I wouldn't trust it.If it fails then you will have flying glass everywhere. Do it right and find a fixing into timber.

might need a council resource consent and planning authority dispensation.

Hate those sticky hangers - nearly everyone we removed for repairs took the paint off!

I think the biggest of them are only good for a maximum of 2kg. most are only 0.5kg.

We had the type where two click together sort of like a velcro. One day there was a huge bang and the mirror had fallen. I checked the mirror in the other bathroom and one of the top ones was completely unstuck from the paint. We installed correctly and used double the amount necessary for the weight. I would recommend another option!

I use those metal wall mates, never had a failure, you may need 3,sometimes the wall stud may not be where you want to hang the mirror,if there is just put a screw into the stud & install a wall mate either side of that.

Thanks, wasn't too keen on using them. Sounds like I need to get knocking to try to locate the studs, any hints?

Go down to Bunnings or My Tree ten mega and get an electronic stud reader. They are fairly cheap.

The adhesive on the 3m hooks do degrade over time. I wouldn't hang anything breakable from them, definitely not a mirror weighing 7kg!
For extra confidence, get the sales people to show you how to work the stud reader when you buy it.
